Deborah Norville
CBS News Correspondent
Deborah Norville joined CBS News in October 1992 as a correspondent on the news magazine program Street Stories anchored by Bill Bradley. Norville has also contributed reports to 48 Hours and is a contributing editor to McCall's magazine.
Prior to joining CBS News, Norville hosted the nationally syndicated program The Deborah Norville Show on the ABC Radio network. Norville was also co-host and news anchor of NBC's Today Show, and anchor of NBC's News at Sunrise-at that time, the only woman to solo anchor a daily network news program. Norville has received many distinguished awards during her 15 years of broadcast journalism, including an Emmy Award in 1989.
A native of Dalton, Georgia, Norville graduated summa cum laude as a First Honor Graduate at the University of Georgia. She holds an ABJ degree in broadcast news, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Blue Key Honor Societies. In addition, Norville was names Outstanding Young Alumnus by the University of Georgia School of Journalism in 1989 and a member of the Dalton, Georgia, Education Hall of Fame in 1991. She was named Person of the Year (1989) by the Broadcast Advertising Club in Chicago, a Mother of the Year (1992) by the National Mother's Day Committee and a Woman of Achievement (1992) by the Anti-Defamation League of New York.
