"We Americans can say 'Peace on Earth,' we can sing about it, preach about it, and even pray about it. But if we have not internalized the mythology to make it happen inside up, then it will not be," says the widow of civil rights leader Malcolm X, Dr. Betty Shabazz.

Shabazz is the Director of Communications and Public Relations at Medgar Evans College st the City University of New York. She hosts a radio program, "A Forum for Women," holds a variety of positions in both public and private organizations, is a life member of the NAACP, Vice President and member of the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation, member to the American Educational Research Association and is one of 75 women profiled in the book I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America.

In addition to her R.N., B.A. and M.A. degrees, Shabazz received her Ph.D. in education from the University of Massachusetts. A dynamic leader, Shabazz continues the work of Malcolm x and raises their six children.
