From Moscow to Peking, from Antarctica to Saigon, from Jerusalem on the "diplomatic shuttle" to other Middle East Capitals, Bernard Kalb has traveled the globe for more than three decades as a correspondent covering world affairs for CBS News, NBC News and The New York Times.

Beyond his experience in both print and television journalism, he has also had the unique advantage of seeing the world from "the other side of the podium." He has served as Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs and as spokesman for the State Department for two years, until his widely applauded resignation in October, 1986 to protest "disinformation" by the Regan Administration.

"In his final act," William Safire wrote in the Times, "Bernard Kalb rose above "State Department Spokesman" to become the spokesman for all Americans who respect and demand the truth." His credentials as a journalist were most recently recognized by the Freedom Forum Media Studies Center at Columbia University; it names his a Senior Fellow for the year 1991-1992.

Kalb now travels widely as a lecturer and moderator. He is most recently noted as a moderator of the weekly CNN program Reliable Sources, which turns a critical lens on the media.
