Jeffrey Sonnenfeld is the Senior Associate Dean for Executive Programs at Yale University's School of Management and the Founder, President & CEO of THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE.

Prior to coming to Yale, Sonnenfeld was a professor at the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, where he established the Center for Leadership & Career Studies, and a professor at the Harvard Business School.

Sonnenfeld has published five books and numerous articles in general publications and professional journals in the areas of chief executive leadership, corporate governance, CEO succession, executive careers, and the management of corporate social performance. His first book, a best seller, The Hero's Farewell: What Happens When CEOs Retire, won a Golden Baton Award.

Sonnenfeld has received the 2005 Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management and the Academy of Management's Award for Best Research in Social Issues. He was recipient of the Irwin Award for Social Research in Industry; AT&T's Hawthorne Fellowship for Social Research in Industry; the John P. Whitehead Faculty Fellowship; and several outstanding educator awards.

Sonnenfeld has served on many boards of directors, among them: the AARP, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Hanover Direct, Transmedia-CBS Inc., and the Hyatt Executive Travel Council.

His clients have included: American Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, BellSouth, Cigna, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, General Electric, Marriott, Nasdaq; Sprint and United Parcel Service.

Sonnenfeld received his AB, MBA, and DBA from Harvard University.
