For over a decade, Ron Brown has served on the Democratic National Committee, for which he is now chairman. Brown's political career began as the Democratic Party District Leader in Mount Vernon, NY. Throughout the 70's, Brown was very involved with the National Urban League, serving as Deputy Executive Director, General Counsel, Vice President for Washington Operations and Chief Washington Spokesperson.
He moved on to serve as Legislative Chairman for the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, and was Deputy National Campaign Manager, General Counsel and Staff Director for Edward Kennedy. In 1988, Brown was Democratic Convention Manager for Jesse Jackson and was Senior Political Advisor in the Dukakis-Bentsen campaign.
Brown received his B.A. degree from Middlebury College and his J.D. Degree from St. John's University School of Law. He is married and has two children.
