Michael Bloomberg founded BLOOMBERG Financial Markets in 1981, turning an initial order from Merrill Lynch for 20 terminals into a company providing the premier information and analysis system on Wall Street.

The company now provides analytical and news services to more than 33,000 terminals at investment and securities firms in almost every major country. Its clients include most of the world's central banks, investment institutions, commercial banks, government agencies and news organizations. The company also publishes a magazine, owns an all news radio station and produces, in conjunction with Maryland Public Television, "BLOOMBERG BUSINESS NEWS."

Continuing to test his abilities to stay ahead of technology, Michael Bloomberg recently announced his company would create a 13-hour-a-day, 7 day a week television news service called Bloomberg Direct. It will be transmitted via satellite, offering home viewers an alternative to local cable systems.

Bloomberg is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Harvard Business School.
